Meet Ember McLeod

You may have figured out that social studies is my thing. I hope that during our time together you add brain wrinkles of knowledge and are inspired to keep exploring and improving the world around you. Speaking of exploring, I am a big fan of traveling, especially to places I've never been. I am an avid reader. (Build that vocabulary, my friends!) I need music in my life every single day, and I tend to fit movie quotes into general conversation whenever possible.
I'm a Polk County kid. I graduated from Auburndale High School. I have an Associate in Arts from Polk State College in Secondary English Education. I have a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of South Florida (GO BULLS!) I currently hold certifications in elementary education, exceptional student education, social sciences, and English. Additionally, I am endorsed in reading, ESOL, and I have the Civics Seal of Excellence. 2024-2025 marks my eleventh year as a PCPS teacher, and my second year as a social studies teacher at Lake Region High School. I have taught previously at Sikes Elementary, Citrus Ridge: A Civics Academy, and Lake Alfred Polytech Academy.
I have three grown children. My daughters, Jade and Peyton, and my son, Connor, have attended Polk County schools, so I have insight as both the parent and the teacher of students in our county. I have three grandchildren: Morrigan, Nicholas, and Elijah. They remind me of how important it is to work together in order to secure the brightest possible future for our most precious resource, our children.
